I'm researching customers of a rail line in Western New York for a book. A 1923 customer listing shows two Metro Stations Inc., one in Fillmore NY and one west of Avon, NY along Rt. 5. I have looked around the Internet and have not come up with anything. Is this a local chain or a national chain. Does anyone have any information on when Metro Stations would have been in business? Thanks.

Metro was a small New York company purchased by Vacuum Oil in 1928. Vacuum and Socony merged in 1931, laying the groundwork for Mobil Oil.

Charles. METRO was a small New York company that was purchased by Vacuum Oil in 1928. METRO was founded in Jamestown/Olean, NY. Vacuum later merged with Socony and eventually became Socony Vacuum Oil Company then Mobil. Hope this helps. Rex
