Brookins made 100s of cans and buckets, if you post a picture of yours I will identify it.

For service station related literature see my website: www.petrocollect.com

They are still made today simply because they are still being used! Calibration can is correct. I used them for 34 years. They should have a lead seal and certification from the state they are used in each year. I have never seen anything but 5 gallon. (not to say they did not make them)

Dick, that looks more like a whale oil can that came over on the Mayflower.......just kidding!!!! is the a seal/tag from a state? or is it from a test lab certificate of accuracy? Thanks for sharing you pics! Take care! tt

It is a can for calibration but is called a "Test Measure"
That is the frist one gallon I have seen, most are 5 gallon.
A new 5 gallon can from Ellisco is EXPENSIVE !!!!!!

In all my equipment company catalogs they do not refer to this type of can as a calibration can, but as Joe states a "Test Measuring Can."

I quit looking after I found this in the McDonald Oil Equipment catalog from 1956. I could be older, and I don't know how long they made it, don't have that much time to keep looking.

To see all the catalogs I have, go to: http://www.petrolianacollectibles.com/catalogs.htm

By the way, I have shortened the web name of my website to:
www.petrocollect.com
