Not sure this sign has been reproduced? Comparing to the sign in the Mobil's Collector's guide p.66, this sign looks the same, to my eyes. Again the question is, has this sign been reproduced?

Bob, This sign has been reproduced. I have one. On the back side of mine it say's REPRODUCTION. But, this sign looks a little funny in the gromet area. There is no markings on the back that say anything.

Here is a scan of the page the sign is on. The grommet locations to my old eyes look the same.

...go to the auction, click on the 'enlarge' link, look at the photo of the back side of the sign - to me, it looks as though there is an irregular, somewhat lighter vertical 'stripe' near the middle of the sign...its hard to see, it's just right of center...

...SODAMAMAK: where is 'reproduction' printed on your sign?...if you look at the back side of your sign, and then turn your sign 90 degrees, so it's laying on its side, is the marking in the same area as this 'stripe'?

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

The back looks a whole lot different than my original. Mine has some hash marks on it where it was laid to dry I think? IMO. Ted

That sign has been reproduced, there is usually a sticker on the back that is about 1" x 4" and says "REPRODUCTION" I think I have an original one somewhere and the back is black and you can see the rack marks on it. It almost looks to me like there was a sticker on the back of this one at one time.

Gulfiend, The reproduction is painted on in the very middle of the sign in large 1-1/2 print. No stickers at all. got mine from Andy.
The groments on this sign Look funny to me, as to known orginals
And John, I was looking at the one you have on your site, and the groment holes look differnt than the one in question.
Not able to take a photo of mine at tis time..
Thanks to all for the info.

I agree that the gromets do not look like the ones on an original sign. The back is also wrong in color and texture. It certainly appears that something may have been rubbed off on the middle of the backside.
