I need to take this pedestal apart to repair the base. It appears that the base and mount are attached to the post by pushing the post on to a tapered flange on the base and top mount. I can see nothing else holding the unit together. Is this correct or am I not seeing something? Has anybody worked on one before and can offer some help on how it comes apart?

Hi
I just finnished painting mine a minute ago.I think they are pressed together. Some time this was done while the cast pieces are hot and the tube not.My base was cracked and I heated it while they were together and welded it with nickle rod.Do you have the glass? and would you post the size and how it was mounted.I could also use a picture of the hand hole cover as I will probaly have to make one.
Thanks Bill

Thanks for the info. That's what it looks like was done. I have tried heat and power buster with no luck. May have to work on it in one piece. I actually have this meter and a wall mount meter. Some of the internal parts are missing on the wall mount version so I may end up parting it out. Both units have the glass which is held in with a rubber gasket. I will try and get a photo for you. What do you mean by the hand hole cover?

You use the standard gilbarco window rubber available everywhere to hold the glass in. Put the rubber into the sheetmetal first and trim the flange(groove off of the inside corners just enough to get to the flat area. You can then measure the glass size and replace....hope this helps.....Rich B

If you decide to part this one out, I'd be interested in the cover for the pedestal base.

Anyone else have one available???
