I picked up a nice straight Wayne 70 this past fall at Peotone. Took the computer out and removed the trim parts last night. Took it to the paint shop today. The paint guy looked it over, was very impressed with the pump as it needs minimal body prep work. Said I may even get it back this week yet.

In the trailer on the way home;

At the shop;

It had a repaired base on it but I got another good base when I bought the pump.

Does anyone have a good picture showing how the light manifold attaches?

Thanks

Wes--

On the inner top of your Wayne 70 (that looks like a range hood in a pit bbq restaurant) there are two holes. You put a couple of machine screws through those and attach the light monofld via two cut out areas in the light manifold casting. As you look at it, you'll see that there will be two light sockets per door when it is attached to the inner top. You can use nuts or wing nuts to cinch it up. Hope this helps. Dave Folck

It is getting a gloss black base, red body and white doors. I will put a Sinclair globe of some kind on it, possibly an Ethyl. I already have a couple red and while pumps but I like them so I am getting another one.

Dave
Thanks for the light manifold installation directions, they should be just what I need.
Hope to pick it up this Wednesday or Friday

Wes

Got my pump back Saturday. Took a little longer than planned but there is no reason to rush the Paint Man. I think he did a nice job on it. The old base was cracked and had a patch on it but I got a replacement when I bought the pump. Swapped the base out and put on the doors so far.

Hey Wes--Looking good! It'll be great to see it as a finished pump! I like these "in progress" photos. Kind of gives me ideas for the next restoration! Nice to see how others do it.---KEVIN

Got some more parts on the pump;
Got the add glasses from Vic's;

Put in the computer, may go for a restored one some time. Popped on the faces and the face plate glass. Put on a globe ring and a US Motors globe. It has a new hose on it, the nozzel is an old one I still need to polish and clean up. Have some small things to do to it yet. Am working on a set of US Motors add glasses for the front also.

Does any one know how these two items are fastened on? Pins, rivets?

The ID tag probably had very small slotted screws that held it on and the "WAYNE" tag would have had the small pins as oldnfuelish stated. I don't know what they are called either. I have never seen phillips head screws in old pumps with the exception of some of the later version pumps in the 50's and those were limited in use.

Keithia, you make a good point about the phillips screw. I talk to a lot of people who restore cars, gas engines,furniture and all kinds of antiques, and remind them that the phillips screw was not invented untill 1937 and certainly could not have been found in anything made before then. I refer to those pins as "spiral rivits" they are used to hold nameplates on electrical gear and motors also. However one little slip when you use them can sure mess up a nice paint job. Norm.

On my Wayne 70 I believed I used slotted 4/40's from the hardware store in town. Quick and simple. : )

Here's your drill size
