gaspedler,
There is no consistency is the lenses. Some have a little more curve and some less. Sould like a great idea but just wouldn't work.
People need to wrap the lenses in bubble wrap then tape bubble wrap and box with peanuts you will be good!

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

NO--I'm not sure what you could mix in that would be compatible. I'm getting a couple small bottles of paint from my sign painter lady, so that I can try to mix up a batch that will duplicate the color of a milkglass globe. When I get that color right, I'll mix some up, just to see what happens! See if the color changes, or the epoxy itself is effected!

I'm also looking for some insight as to where to go to learn how to repair inserts! Theres a rumor that there once was a lady that did it and then became too busy with historical items and wouldn't mess with the gas stuff anymore. Was there such a person? I would travel and invest some funds, to be able to learn anything there is to know about glass repair. Maybe someone has a lead???
Thanks--KEVIN

Hi Kevin, talk to Scott Benjamin. When I was there I saw a repair on a rare Transport Trail lense. It looked real good, when lit you could still see the crack, but you really had to look for it. Mind you she did an excellent job on the repair. Scott gave her name and address, but I can't find it. He told me she was very busy and he had to wait a while to get it done. I also heard that she was to busy with other things. Talk to somebody at Corning glass in Corning, New York. They're glass people and they might be able to help you out. Good luck. Ted
