Found this long distance photo of a depression era "Red Crown" station, online. I'm not up on pumps nor globes, so any ideas of what brand of station was right next door?

I agree on the sign it is sweet. That is the first company to come to mind for me was Waddams with that style of globes. I had a picture on my old computer of some scrappers cutting up a big Red Crown sign like that. It about made me cry cry

I find it interesting that the Red Crown station built that fence that must be 15-20'+ high to completely hide the view of the competing station behind them. It is stunts like those that come to mind when you have to fight with the city over some dumb building code. I always tell people there is always a reason for these laws that may seem stupid to us now. Today they could only have that fence has high as the white picket behind it. Hey it made good business sense to destroy that station behind them... Also today, if you pulled your car out of either of those lots and got in a wreck, you could sue the Red Crown station for massive amounts of money because “they blocked your view”.

Today, in Topeka, Kansas you can have a 8' tall fence in the back yard, but it has to be 1’ from the city sidewalk, and it can not be higher then 4’ tall once it passes your house walls, and it can only go out to their right away. You have to have your house pined with survey pins to prove where your property is.

People complain all the time about these laws because it can make your place look stupid and it cost you a lot more money to do things, but you can blame it on the stunts done in our past like Red Crowns in this photo.

Imagine if you will, what our stupid building codes and laws will be like in 500 years?

That's an Adv Billboard, not a fence. It's got lights on the corners to light it up.
Must be a 1 way street, big sign & billboard are 1 sided.

I'm no expert, but my first thought was also Wadhams, because of the globes. Do you know where the photo was taken?

Tara, I believe that the photo was taken in Milwaukee, during the late 20s. I found it at Yahoo... I typed in "red crown gas station photos". The photo was on page 6.
