Anyone ever have the problem of not wanting to sell something you own (& like owning) to someone you know or a friend of yours that wants or needs it?
i heard a good one today: one guy wanted something off another guys wall & the owner told him: oh hell ill have to hang onto that a looooooooong time before its worth what i paid for it! LOL! "that ended that discussion!" (THATS A GOOD ONE, I PLAN TO USE THAT LINE A-LOT!)
ive run into this problem several times & it can get hairy!!! if a friend of mine "really needs it" i just give it up & say we'll figure it out later. but as im digging it out or pullin it off the wall i say "hey Santa better have something of equal or greater value laying in front of my door long before Christmas! (thats if its something good that i like) if its just something like a clean 60 site glass or a single ad glass i just pass it on.
it can be a real pain sometimes. i had some car parts & this guy bugged me about them forever. i finally just handed the parts to him. (they would be an easy 100 bucks but he knew i got them free) a year or so later i asked how the parts ever worked out & he said they were safe in his closet! he didnt EVER plan to use them, he just wanted them!?!?!??????
kinda like if you had a nice 36-B only missing a top & you knew a guy with a stack of them about 12 feet high!! LOL!!!!!!

13+ ft, IF they were in 1 STACK. LOL
I've paid more for a top, than I've paid for the whole pump. ONLY 3 were bought off a pump, the rest were sitting on the ground or table.

I had that happen once. Some guy I knew, but wasn't real close, came by, and saw a Gilmore battery cable sign hanging on my wall. It was beat to **** , missing paint, and folded in half at one time. Anyway, he has to have it. Offeres me $300. which is about $299. more than I paid for it. I turned him down as I really didn't want to sell it. Told him, maybe I'd trade something for it? A few days later, he's back with a "Bell" orange globe. It didn't thrill me, so I passed, and he walked away licking his wounds. I got to wondering, if he wanted it so bad, what could it really be worth? So, on a whim, I put it on ebay with a rediculus reserve of $650. When the bidding passed the reserve, I had to call him, and explain what I did. I felt pretty crappy having to explain why after I wouldn't sell it to him, how now it was being sold. I suggested if he wanted it, he should bid. Well, it sold for $930. He hasn't spoken to me since. The money wasn't worth it. I had a fat wallet, but felt like Snidley Whiplash. ------------------ Don "oltoydoc" Sherwood Vintage Gas

Dick... If my calculations are right, you have 22 36-B tops. 7" tall, 13 feet... 12 x 13 divided by 7= 22. Am I right?
