I have been collecting for about 20 years and a member of oldgas for several years, although I have never posted anything. So I thought I would post some pictures of my shop. I keep saying I will post some pictures when I get organized and the shop looks finished. Never gonna happen. So I will share some photos now and add as we finish. I collect a little bit of everything, as I usually pick up whatever I like, especially those unusual or unique items. Anyway, I always like looking at other peoples collections, so I thought I would share some of my stuff.

I also am looking for some help with the restoration of the gas station. I have seen a very close picture of this station in one of the gas station books, but the one I have is a little different. Station comes in 2 pieces, so I am sure they mass produced these and had them distributed everywhere.

I bought it in Arizona a few years ago. Originally, it was on the Gila River Indian Reservation just south of Phoenix. Dont know anything else about it. Looks like a Standard station in the books but I would like to confirm it. I have searched books and the net looking for a photo of this statiion, but have yet to find one. If anyone has a picture of one like this, I would appreciate having a copy of it.

My number is 713-899-1095 and I live near Houston.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I appreciate it. As far as allowing the kids to play in the shop, my 4 kids take priority over the junk. This past weekend, we had (14) 12 year olds for a guys weekend at the ranch. My son dunking the ball and 13 of his buddies playing full court until 5:30 am sat morning and til 3:30 am sun morning. Lowered the goals so they all think they are going to the NBA now. Got to enjoy the kids and the stuff at the same time. We removed a lot of neon prior to this weekend on some of the lower neon signs, to avoid obvious disasters.

The shop is 9000 square ft and the workshop is 3000 ft. Workshop is full, unorganized and a complete mess. Too many projects to think about. Need to finish some restoration work and stop buying more stuff. Disease is hard to control. Anyway, have more pics to share tomorrow.

Matthew, the metal station appears to be perhaps a Flying- A or at the time it was manufactured as it's a pre-fab , an Associated station .
On annother note get some paint on that metal as when I manufactured custom Van accessories in North Houston years ago , I saw a brand new hammer rust overnight there ! Ed Shaver

Few more. The Chevrolet Santa tin litho is unusual. Never seen another one. It appears that the car is not a chevrolet. Not for sure. Anyone ID that convertible?

Matt, out of curiosity is your shop located near Watergate Marina or down closer to where Captain Okies liquor store was to the entrance to Clear Lake Shores. Did you have any flooding during Ike or suffer any damage?

Thanks for sharing your incredible collection. I imagine each of us scanning your pictures picks out favorite items. My eyes focused on the very artistic orange and green O'Neill Mfg Co, building materials sign and the Penn Yan CarTop boat!! You've got something for everyone.

Troy,

We live on the water in Clear Lake Shores, but we keep most of our cars and signs at our place in country. House took a big hit on the first floor. No damage to any of the stuff in the photos above, however, one of my favorite cars was at the house when Hurricane Ike came through. Our 1932 Ford Coupe, along with 3 other vehicles that we lost. However, the coupe is well on its way to being completely restored and back on the road soon.

Again, thanks for all the nice comments.

Now all you guys know how I feel with my "collection" of one pump and 2 globes!
Great collection Matthew, thanks for the pics. I havent seen a Dog N Suds sign since I lived in Rochester, NY. I thought it was a fairly regional and small chain. Did they have them in CA? Do they still exist?

Been over a year since posting any pictures of new stuff. Here are a couple updates. Finally got the gas station together and about to start the final prep work and get her painted. Still have never found a picture of one of these pre-fab buildings. Any help any of you may have would be appreciated.

Recently bought a porcelain billboard sign from the family that had the Grand Prize Beer distributorship near Houston. This is supposedly the only billboard sign that Howard Hughes had made for his Grand Prize Beer company. It was located off old Hwy 90 towards Richmond/Rosenberg leaving Houston and had both flashing and neon lights, that really lit up the sky. The sign is 22 feet long by 9 feet tall. Huge, but a one of a kind.

Also found an Ford A1 sign.
