I was contacted by a fellow that has an old WAYNE air compressor for sale. He said it looks just like an old visible pump would for about 3 feet high and then has a plate on top with a compressor and motor mounted to it. He wants a lot for it but I'm in the dark on it. Where would I get more info? Thanks---KEVIN

I found some literature on Jack Sims site but I have to wait for pictures from the guy. There only seems to be one model that was vertical tho? Anyone with an idea on value? I realize that its relative to condition but I have absolutely NO idea!

I recently purchased a used old 1949 air compressor. It was easy to tell by the brass plate that it was a Curtis, made a couple of miles from my house. But after comparing it with Curtis literature I have it was obious that both the motor and the air compressor had been replaced over the years, the only thing left made by Curtis was the tank.
I have a great deal of Wayne air compressor literature and can probably identify it and determine the year it was made. If you want to purchase any of the lit. I will look it up, will need a picture of it.
I wouldn't pay much for an old compressor as the only thing you might be purchasing is the tank and you can put a Wayne decal on any old tank.

I've seen Wayne compressors but have no idea of the history. As far as value the older compressors don't bring much money. They were pricey when new but now very few people give much money for them. Could not get anybody to look at the Saylor Beall when I tried selling. So "The Duke" went over to a buddy's shop for now. If I look at the older compressors I make sure I can still get parts for them. Saylor Beall and Quincy are still in business so parts are available.
Paid $150 (craigslist) for the 1964 Saylor Beall with a bad motor. Paid $150 (craigsist) for a 1940's Kellogg American with extra working motor. Paid under $400 (ebay) for a 1990 Quincy with a brand new $500 motor on it. All have an 80 gallon tank. My buddy paid $75 for a OLD Quincy that the pump itself is twice as big as mine. That's my two cents. Good luck,
Mike
