Hello everyone.
I have always wanted to own one of the old visible gas pumps. Well, my father-in-law informed me that his brother had cleaned up a lady's yard and she asked him to haul this thing off to the dump. Thank goodness he took it home. He sent me the picture shown. I could see the glass was fine, but a few other parts missing. Please take a look at the picture and see if my research is correct in thinking it is a Fry model 117 - 10 gallon pump. Thanks and I look forward to being part of this forum. By the way, I paid him $400 for the pump and my father-in-law $100 to drive 3 hours (one way) to pick it up. Did I do alright?
Scott

I would be tickled pink to get one for that price. Looks like its in good condition too. I'm jealous. Must warn you though, it's VERY hard to stop at one pump. They tend to reproduce once they are in captivity.

Glass sure looks clean for a pump that was going to get hauled off to the dump ! Did you take apart and clean up the hole pump for the picture ?

The story he gave me was this ladies husband had died about 15 years ago. He was cleaning her yard and hauling off stuff. She told him to haul off that old gas pump. Nothing had been cleaned. I will find our more about it this weekend. I have to go to his mothers (my wife's grandmother) funeral in Oakgrove, Louisiana.

The picture is the picture he sent me. It is all I had to go on when purchasing. I am sure he cleaned it up some when he hauled it to his house. I am in the process of taking it apart, cleaning it and trying to figure out how everything worked at my house now. No one ever really said, is this a model 117?
Thanks

Thanks Dick,

"117 w/ Wayne indications"

From the pictures it seems these are the correct ones shown below, right. How many go inside the glass? Looks like three sets in the restoration pictures I have seen.

0 thru 10 or 10 thru 0 [some were both ways on same pump] on ea stick. I've seen 2 & 3 sticks in 117's & a couple that only had etched #'s into glass on 2 sides. Some pumps had indicators on inside [yours] & some the indicators were attached to outside rods.

As seen last week, someone found a Mae West 117 w/ a WAYNE bonnet. As Jack stated WAYNE bought the Factory, but RUSH bought some of the [unfinished, maybe] pumps & converted to use 12" x 27" cylinders, RUSH top castings & bonnet w/ light arms.
