Can anyone tell me if this Ford sign is the real deal or a reproduction?

Thanks
Mac

Isn't it sad and disappointing that we even have to worry about whether one is real or fake? The unmarked repros sure have damaged the hobby, adding stress, risk, and uncertainty to something that's supposed to be fun.

Yes it is sad, Wes. Especially for the novice collector like myself. The grommets look correct to me, though. Hopefully someone here has some expertise with Ford signs. Thanks. Mac

I don't believe it is right. The gromets are supposed to be directly above the "G" and the "E". Someone else chim in if I am wrong.

From what I know the sign is a fake. As mentioned it is not marked property of Ford and the gromets are to be directly over the G and E as Roger mentioned.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking to trade some non-gas related stuff for the sign, so I really don't know what he was asking for the sign. He just emailed and asked if I'd take the Ford sign in trade, but when I found out is was a reproduction, I told him I wasn't interested. I'll email him back and see what he wants for it and let you know.

Original Ford signs made of tin have different grommet placement than the original porcelain versions...
