It has been way to long since we have had a Globe of the Month feature! It has been a busy summer and fall has slipped by to. Hope everyone is enjoying the Thanksgiving Holiday!
This Months feature is globes with Planes, Trains, Autos, or anything else that could be used to transport people or products like Trucks, Boats, or???
Why not take a few minutes and share photos of any of your globes that feature these things. Even if you have posted your globes before in another feature you can post again. We all enjoy looking at pictures of globes.

I only have 2 globes and 1 isn't here yet and the other Brad already posted. This is a cool thread but is limited because these are normally the higher priced globes!

Here we have several of mine with cars, planes, and trains on them. The Hudson has a transport truck on it. I hope "race-cars" count too.

Great globes everyone!
If you have not clicked on John O'Hern's link (Globes and Signs) take a minute and do so. He has photos of some of the best of the best Airplane globes.
John, love that Imperial globe, it is the only one I know of. If an Eagle can carry a 55 gallon barrel of oil that is definately a transportation related globe!
I will round up some photos of globes to post over the weekend. In the meantime lets see yours.

Here are a couple of "Zeppelin" globes from Scott Benjamin. Great pair of globes and ones that are seldom seen.
The use of Zeppelin's as a means of air travel dates back to the early 1900s but the guy that is credited with inventing the Zeppelin had drawings dating back to 1875. Definately a guy ahead of his time!

Check out the close up on this Kerr McGee globe. A plane, car, and a covered wagon with a city / factory scene in the back ground, all pictured over the outline of the state of Oklahoma.
It turned up Ebay a few years back and I am not exactly sure who owns the globe today. Neat piece and the only one that I know of.
I'll try to round up a few more photos of transportation globes in the next few days. in the meantime if you have any photos to add please do so. Thanks!

I'm not a globe guy. (thankfully or I even be more broke) But, I must admit this is a great thread! Thanks to all who have shared your photos as I would never get to see such beautiful and special looks at gas and oil history.

Here are a couple of photos I took at the 2008 Iowa Gas Show. The Tyreco globe is pretty scarce, I only know of a couple of them in collections.
The Hudson Transport is also an uncommon globe. The Regular and Ethyl versions turn up regualarily but the Hudson Transport version is a little tougher to come by.
I have a few more photos to post on this thread and we will be starting a new Globe of the Month after the first of the year.

Here are a couple of more transportation related globes.
The Thoni Oil Company features a futuristic "Buck Rogers" type space ship.
The second one is from the Viking Oil Company which was out of Algona, Iowa. Very few globes feature sailing ships and I can't help but wonder what tie in a sailing ship would have with a company from Iowa?
I will see if I can find a few more photos and next week we will start a new topic for globe of the month.
