I have a fella whom i've bought a few signs from, and has a fully restored Eco Air Meter 97. It is on the stand/pole. Has all parts, not missing anything. Mint condition in good working order air/light. He's asking $1000 for it, I want to buy it for my dad, but want to make sure that is a fair price. Sorry I don't have any pics of it

Take a look at Jack Sim's meter's. They are the best I have seen. Great attention to detail. If your looking for restored- buy one of his meters- A good investment in my book!! $1000 sounds a little high but I would have to see the meter in person. Jack's are up there in price but it's like your buying a brand new air meter, it works perfect and looks great.

It is high but reasonable, any more is outrageous no matter how well its restored.

I would say its worth the extra money to buy one of Jack's meters. At least you know what your getting with one of his meters. A lot of people just spruce up the outside to make them look nice. This is critical- but the inside is also key. It all depends what you are looking for. For a fully functional meter that is calibrated- Jack's would be the best way to go. Everyone has a different opinion of quality. When it comes to any restoration- I like it to look nice but have some original flare. I kept all the original chrome for mine. Any other questions I will be more then happy to answer.

Jack Sim for restored ECO's
Are on the same page for Quality.

Most shops can paint a Hot Rod, very few can build it.

Last time I checked, you could still buy new units from the factory rep. Approx. $900.00

First, thank you all for all the complements about my restored ECOs.
I admit, I have the highest price ECOs offered either on my website or on Ebay, but I am selling at least two per month.
For more information about my restored units, please when you go to my website, go to ECO, then go down the bottom to Restored ECOs. There is over 20 reasons why mine are the best to be found.
Actually I also sell unrestored units, but unrestored on my terms, they include everything it take to restore one.
I could sell one of the 60 ECOs I own unrestored, but I would make litte money doing so, because I am paying $400-$500 for them. The way I make money is to completely restore them and sell them complete.
Thanks again T-Bird.

Go buy an unrestored eco, purchase the pedestal, glass and chrome kit, paint/primer, hose, any needed interior parts, and labor to restore it.

IMO, $1,000.00 probably won't look that bad to you.

I was at an auction a cople of weeks ago and an incompete eco, disassembled in a box, without a pedestal went for $550.00

On sites such as this where we all know how to purchase them and where to get parts...for some $1000.00 might sound a little high. Get around some car guys at an auction I flat out guarantee you that eco will sell for considerably higher than $1000.00

Seriously, it just depends on who you ask as to what it's worth. If you've been wanting an eco/pedastal and don't want to restore it yourself, you definately are not going to get hurt picking it up for 950-1000.

Except for the personal enjoyment/satifaction of doing it Yourself, most will be far ahead by working your job & buying a restored unit whether it's an air head, pump or Hot Rod.

Forgot to mention something about what Dick said about new ones. They are no longer available and the last price they sold for was around $1500 with shipping. And these units did not have any chrome on them and had a black hose.

Been studying these for awhile. At $1k it had better be complete and work. Otherwise buy from Jack. Take off back and inspect. I have seen some that have been repaired and inside is a joke but outside of case looks good on surface (but bad case restoration job). Recently have seen many of the 60's units coming out of woodwork now (in Ohio); people see the prices and do what I would term ***** restorations to get top $. Jack's book is a good ref. and the site for parts, manual etc.

When I acquire a used ECO I don't care if it works or not. The mechanism is completely disassembled, sandblasted, and everything is rebuilt. This is the only way I can stand behind what I sell.
Also, the outside gets all new chrome, glass, air fittings, red hose, new chuck, all stainless steel screws, new face, new reset handle, and if you check out the ones on the auctions sites, it seems that no one knows how to restore the wheels. Nice looking units, but dirty wheels.

I see. Is it common to find a 97 attached to a pedestal?

I think it was more likely then some think..I've seen a few of them like that & have an unmolested 98 model that was used as a wall mount for 4 decades too.
