After all, there have been those crappy reproductions available for over 20 years now. I ought to be able to get a set of originals for a couple of hundred dollars a pair.

NOT!

If repops were never made they may very well have been worth 20,000-30,000 now. They guaranteed would be much desirable if your only choice was an original set.

That statement was hard to understand. There are pro and cons to both sides of this. I can't afford the originals and even the repros are getting expensive when you decorate. Sorry but I like the look of the lenses and globes in the garage. I do understand the frustration though of repros though, ask the pedal car people about that.

Gilmore lenses ARE 20-30K now, with reproductions having been on the market for years. In this case, I'd say there has been no affect on the value of originals.

By G&B, do you mean Gilbert & Barker?

If so, I have over 1500 original blue prints from the Bennett Pump Co., never went through all of them. Many of them have to do with pump colors and placement of signs and decals, all from between 1925 and 1935. Possibly there is some mention of this company.
I have always wished I could find any evidence of a pump company making or designing decals. I personally don't believe they ever did, I believe any sign, decal or ad glass, placed on a pump at the pump factory, was supplied by the buyer.
This is why companies like Bennett and Wayne had their own ad glass (remember "Drive Safely") to put on pumps that were going out to service station equipment dealers.

Since T-Way clearly marks his so that everyone knows they are not original lenses and he owns the copyrights to all of them what is wrong with that?

I collect original globes and signs. I do have a couple repops for outside pumps from T-way. They serve a purpose AS LONG AS THEY ARE CLEARLY MARKED! My pittman is a single lens globe I gave over 10,000 for a couple years ago, and I now have a "T-way" pittman on the back that is marked. No one see's the back and it makes the globe not want to fall over. I could not see anyone putting a 10,000 dollar globe on a pump outside. Yes, I see both points but it is the UNMARKED REPO crud that hurts, not the stuff that is clearly marked and dated. As a globe collector turned sign collector turned can collector, I feel there is a place, and not all people have the money to enjoy the real high end collectibles. When I started collecting 18 years ago my budget was 350 dollars for a globe, so look where time, making more money, and other factors got me now. I feel the biggest threat is NOT guys like T-Way making needed items, but the shizzzzz coming from overseas. Just my 2 cents worth.

My point is if there were only original Polly's out there, and no repops available. Wouldn't it be cool to see one and know you are looking at a rare original item.
With repops available everywhere, who cares anymore.

KZ1000, I totally agree, but the world we live in is dominated by "supply and demand". $$$$$ makes the world go around so we just have to get used to it. Yea, it would be cool, but that reality will probably never come to pass. All we can do is hope that the people making them will start to mark them as such.
