At times I share some of the original photos and copies of photos I have purchased, because I believe we all like a "look into the past". Here is a scan of my latest purchase, I hope all enjoy and all have a Merry Christmas!

I counted 11 Globes. Center pump on island to right, looks like a G&B 665.
TEXACO GASOLINE/MOTOR OIL sign on left.

Lubricates as you drive-TYDOL! Don't you love it!

I bought 500 glass negatives a while back and i need to go through them. I did find one the other day, shows a guy and his new 1909 Harley.

Once you get them sorted, I for one would love to see some of the images. Especially that 1909 Harley.

Bob,
I'll try soon to get a copy and post it. I also found in the bunch, two photo's of Lincoln Beachey and Barney Olfield. First one, Lincoln is setting on has Wright Brothers plane and the other one is Barney and Lincoln in a crowd of 100,000 people next to plane and Indy car. Lincoln was the first dare devil Pilot. Barney drove at Indy in the teens. Cool stuff!

Which brands would you like Doc? Tydol, Texaco or Shell? (those are the brands I can make out, or at least it looks to me that the globes are Shell clamshells in front of Sander's store)

db with that nice big monitor, can you make out what is on the globes at the Texaco station and Sander's store?

BOB, IF I HAD TO PICK JUST ONE BRAND, I'D HAVE TO GO WITH THE GOODIES AT THE TYDOL STATION AT THE RIGHT.

Bob that's a great photo. I zoomed in quite a bit and there are 4 different stations it appears, 2 on the left side, on behind the other and 2 on the right. I can't make out the globe branding but I count 15 globes in total. The Texaco sign is a nice old Gasoline and motor oils Texaco but the globe in front doesn't make sense. It almost looks like an Esso in script style but the longer you look and the harder you look it gets "buggy" on the eyes. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, all my extra Tydol items are going to feed a goat I heard about in Tennessee. (since they eat most everything)

If I remember correctly it was found at the bottom of a hole.

As you can see, he has been really hungry. LOL

TEXACO sign is in a Shepherds Hook pole mounted to building, instead of ground.

LOWright is Really GOOD, he pulled the color out of a B&W photo!

Good eyes Dave.

Now that you mention it I see the distant pump on the left.

I sent a larger image to db, with his new monitor hopefully he can get a better look.

The more I look at the photo, the more things change. LOL

On the right, the last pump (atleast to me) looks as if it might be at another station/store?

I was up to 400% image zoom and just can't make it all out. DB's right about the Texaco sign hanger. That's a sweet outfit. I'm guessing the station on the right in the back is the Shell. I almost thought those were Crown globes till I looked at the lonely one to the left of the 2. It looks more like a Shell.

Is she by the car or across the street on the sidewalk? (for some reason, with the magnifying glass it looks like a girl to me)

DB, I went back and recounted. I come up with 5 at Tydol station. 3 at Sanders store. 2 at Texaco on the left and 1 clearly beyond in the background. I do believe I miscounted and 11 is correct although I feel like there is at least one more to the left that isn't clear enough to count. Is this the way you count them.

I resized image to 1600dpi & can only see 11.
*Left side & in front of 2nd set of pumps in a kid sitting on island curb looking @ camera.
*Right side by rear of last car is a little black kid.
*Because there is no Flag on pole, I think Bob is correct about Courthouse & Advertoligst is correct about it being Sunday. *Large rock in front of flag pole probably has a Bronze Plate w/ names of WW1 volunteers &/or dead from that community.
*Hard to say if last [building] structure on right is a Canopy over a station or porch on 2 story building.
*Left visible in TYDOL is a Tall Door G&B T-176, right one is a Short Door T-176.
*Inside garage on left is a Cable Lift for cars.
GUESSING by looks of cars, photo is Mid to Late 30's

How about trying to date the photo. Date the oldest pump, when the globes were introduced, then date the cars or trucks. No contest, I can only go by the pumps.

Only good globe images appear in the TYDOL station. Closest pump on island is a TYDOL ETHYL, rest look like common ones.
To date the photo, you need to date the Newest pump or vehicle.
