Here's one I've got for a comparison. This one has the top mounting holes, but I see the "66" is also different.
Always looking for pre-1915 cars. Any leads appreciated!

The "66" is completely different as well. The tail on the top of the P gapped differently too. If one was in question, I would say the Ebay sign would be suspect.

Kevin, Did you hold off on it? Just my observation of the ebay sign but the P, h and second l come up much closer to the top of the black than all the other signs. All the other signs seem to be dead on in the spacing of all the letters and the 66. Just my observation and in no way reflect on the originality of any signs. Mike

It is mentioned some of the original signs are marked and some aren't.
Something to note, because of the variance from one manufacturer to another of signs, especially during the time these were made, the Ohio Oil sought a simpler design Logo in the latter 1950's.
That may be why there is a slight difference in the Phillips lettering on these. Just a thought.

I decided to let the sign be shipped and when I get it in my hands, I should be able to tell a lot! Camera angle, different mfg's, sign usage, all seem to contribute to subtle differences.I'm anxious to get it and be able to compare it in person. I sure hope its real?

Phillips 66 was a large company so wouldn't they have different companys make the signs instead of one company. Therefore, I am guessing there would be some small differences in each of the production companies. I will add my sign to the guessing game I hope it is real because it wasn't cheap. It does have split rivets on one side but no company markings or date.

There are several high quality reproduction Phillips 66 and 66 Ethyl shields in circulation. Probably made in the late 80's and termed "a bulk plant find" back then. They all are the correct 29.5", DSP and have good shelving. They are not dated or marked. The bottom point on most of the Ethyls and some of the others are rounded not pointed. If the bottom point of the shield is not pointed but rounded......run like the wind, these are all reproductions.
Collect small Oklahoma Oil Co.'s 1920's-1940's. Barnsdall, Cushing, Eason, Marland, etc.
