The Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish, WA, has a 1923 Shell Oil tank car SCCX 715. This car was built by General American Tank Car (GATX). We are searching for any information regarding original colors and markings on this car. We are also searching for a source for period Shell decals for interpretive signs for the car. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug Shearer

I suggest you drop a line to the model railroad magazines (Model Railroad Craftsman, Model Railroader, others) They have a readership that is very knowledgable and could probably tell you exactly when that particular car was at a certain location in the United States, what color it was, and what grafetti was on it at the time!
