Is anyone attending the Dayton swap meet? I'm a newbie so was curious as to whether anyone would be attending and interested in providing a quick lesson on porcelain signs (IDing repos, condition, tips, etc.). I haven't decided yet whether I'll be just attending the auction on Thursday or the swap meet or making two trips.

I've never been to the Ohio Gas meet, but thinking about going this year. I was hoping to meet up with someone to ride down with to help off-set the $4/gallon gas prices!! Might be able to save enough to buy an oil can or two. If there is anyone around Cleveland or on the way down, and wants some company, let me know.
Sorry Rufiooo1, I'm relatively new to this as well and can't answer your porcelain sign question. Blind leading the blind!! HAHA!! I have an idea, but better left to the professionals on this site. I know there are some posts on the General discussion forum regarding this. Try doing a search.

So, i just returned from the Dayton swap meet/woody's auction. It seemed that the vendor numbers were down a little from last year, and not as much variety. But the auction of Wood's collection was eye opening! In both amount of items and prices they were going for. Glad I went, wish I had more money.

That auction was online.. couldnt believe the prices for clocks? A Coca Cola chewing gum thermometer sold for $3700,not listed in the book either. Looked to me like an old thermometer with Coca Cola chewing gum added later. Green color didnt match and thermometer was rusted and dirty but the Coca Cola part looked too nice to be that old.

What an unbelievable auction! go to rich penn auctions then site map to find results and flyers from the auction! I was glad to have witnessed the salesman sample safe sell for 36,000 plus buyers premium! Woody was doing backflips when it hit 15K!!!! Then after it went soooo high he gave a speech saying THIS is what collecting is all about! Outstanding job to All involved!!!
