I came across a Conoco scriptop MS 80 pump but the top is fiberglass. The seller said that it was a factory replacement and I wondered if they ever came fiberglass or is it a repop top. Thanks Steve

I'll let the professor weigh in here, but I'm pretty sure it's a repop.

Edit... I didn't read close enough that it was a Conoco. Don't know of anyone repopping them. If so, sign me up!

They did have an ad glass version of the top with the cutout for MS pumps. This is not the same as an script top, if that make sense. The green top was real rough and here in CO they are found damaged most of the time from hail.

I am only posting this in the hope that othes will respond with what they have found.
I have had many M&S/Wayne 80 pumps.
The only fiberglass ones had an ad glass panel.
I have never seen a fiberglass top for script panels.
There was a gentleman in Wisconsin who made some metal script tops. Great job, but why he didn't continue to make them I'll never know.
I believe some of our parts suppliers made,or still make some tops made of fiberglass.
Again, this is only to open this discussion, so that we better understand what is original or what is reproduction, when it comes to M&S/Wayne 80 tops.
Just a point, the Wayne 90 also came with the same script tops, all six of them. According to the parts manuals, they do not interchange.
Can anyone add or correct?

I have had 2 of these and both were both ad glass ones also. I have one now and was told from a Cononc collector that the original ones were green with the Conoco inserts.

Phil

Thanks, Phil

I have seen both as these are like the Mobil script tops. They either said "CONOCO" or "CONOCO N-tane." The "N-tane" would be just like the word special on a mobil pump.

I think that the pump I saw must have been a fiberglass ad glass top with plastic conoco inserts. When I go back I will try to get a photo of it.

I saw one of these today that had "Royal" inserts. The inserts were one piece plastic and were held onto the top by 4 screws. This was purchased about 20 years ago from an estate.

About three or four years ago Dick Bennett and I stumbled onto an old bulk plant somewhere in Co. and there were one or two of the Conoco fiberglass ad glass tops on M&S 80 pumps with the insert. Conoco also had the steel ones made as someone else stated here. Remember Dick trying to buy a loose one on a shelf but the guy would not let it go. He tryed to sell us a T-176 for like three thousand dollars unrestored!

I have owned three and jsut b ought a fourth MS 80 with the ad glass tops. The three I owned were all metal tops. There was a Conoco, Royal and Premium. All three were Conoco as you could see the outline of the pump plate on the pump. I will check in the AM to see what the one I just bought has for a top. A friend of mine had two fiber glass tops on MS 80s with the ad glass for Conoco. He said he bought them from a bulk plant that way. I assumed they were original as theyt pumps had been hand painted when they were still used and the paint slopped over so it looked like they had been together for along time.
