9 stops to the restroom after whitecastle ! lol.JUst looking on how you hauled your pumps home. Can any of you pump vets give me the best method. It looks as if you have two empty tires just below the glass and a ratchet strap around it.I've got one to pick up 14 hours away and I'm worried about busting the cylinder!Anything else I can do to protect it, short of removing it there? Thanks Dave

I layed each pump on 2 tires, just below the cylinder. I rachet strapped the base to the side on the trailer. I layed another tire over the pump at the same point as the tires beneath it and passed a rachet tire down over both. Blankets can also be useful to protect paint.
All of the items on yesterdays load made it home intact.
Someone posted an article recently about using the foam 'noodles' that kids swin with to help protect pumps in shipping. They work well also.
The key is to keep things from moving around while in transport.

Hope you didn't scratch the paint on the WAYNE! LOL
bullittmustang, you can do everything correctly for hauling a pump including removing the cyl. & if it is meant to break it will. Once transported 2 Visible pumps, removed cyl from one & of coarse when I got home it was the one that broke!

Thanks Scott and Dick, while on my hunt for my first visible I've seen one with a cracked cylinder that was hauled on it's side wrong. The seller still wanted $1800 for it!. The other seller had just finished the restoration and cracked the glass tightening the last hail screen rod. I think his curses are still hanging over Lake Michigan! Lol

I have hauled pumps in my enclosed trailer, Wedged a full size mattress in and laid the pump on it. Last one I didn't even have to tie it down
