So what is the verdict on this lens? Is it an original or an undated repro?

I offer quart can re-lidding, can rolling, lid stamping, and dent removal.

I would say its real. But I am not a Globe Guy. I don't think any of the repops say "Property of the Wilshire Oil Co." on the Bottom edge of the lens.

The repops do say that but I am with you Jason, I think it is real but unless holding in my hand I can't be sure.

I think it looks like the genuine article. Do the repros have the 6 o'clock notch like this one does? I would doubt the repros do, but I have never handled any 15" reproduction lenses. I was suprised to see it and it looks like another item that the seller has no idea what they have. Unfortunately I expect this item to start getting up there in price then someone will make an offer and they will end the auction. Guess we'll see where it goes! Darin

I hope that he has another side, for he will be real excited when this really starts to move.

I'll say $12,500, if I was a globe collector I'd be a wreck this week!

isn't this the same area the last one came from a couple of years ago? What about the font on property of wilshire, is it right? I'm not saying it's not, I don't know enough about globes to offer a guess, just curious.

The lenses that sold a couple years ago were in Puyallup which is approx 30 minutes from Olympia. M

So Randy, were there Polly stations in Washington? Seems strange that multiple holy grail lenses are found that far from home.

Wilshire Oil was a west coast company based in Los Angeles- the lens pictured was obtained in Gold Beach, Ore
