I work for a show called History Detectives that airs on PBS.

I'm trying to find more information linking Mr. John Henning to Howard Hughes Sr.

The story goes that he was the actual inventor of the twin cone roller drill bit that Mr. Hughes Sr. patented.

If you have any more information on this, could you please contact me?

Laura sent in this additional question:

"Do you have or know who might have an old picture of a fishtail bit? We could use one for our PBS program."

Contact her through the email in the message above this.

I emailed Laura a link to the website of the Petroleum Museum in Midland Texas. They also maintain a large archive of Petroleum Exploration data.

If any of you are ever passing thru that area you should plan a stop there. It is a wonderful museum you would really enjoy.
