1933 or 1934 would be the earliest. I have a map advertising it that way from that year. My 1936 Wadhams map doesn't mention Metro, and my '37 shows a totally different globe style.

Neat lens Terry. I didn't know that they made a progressive lines Mobilgas lens with the Wadhams name on it. I would think it's a pretty rare one at any rate. I would like to see another pic of the lens cleaned up. Looks like lots of years of barn dust and grime on it! Thanks for sharing, Darin

The progressive striped globes were Vacuum Oil designs used from 1928-1932 according to the globe guide. Wadhams was acquired by Vacuum in 1930. 13-1/2 is not the usual size for this globe. I've seen a couple of these Wadhams on 15" metal. The white is a "frosted" finish and would be leary of it cleaning up well.

Hey Jim......I'd be happy to take either one of those Wadhams globes off your hands.....in case you need the extra space!!

jim,
nice globes! wish i had guts enough to keep some nice originals. with a 100 lb bulldog who's clumsy, i don't want to chance it. if you have a pic of that whole display setup, i would love to see it. i've been looking to do something similar with the "cube" layout for my ww2 flight jackets & gear, just haven't found something i like. thanks!

Thanks for the compliments!
Could anyone hazard a value for Terry on that lense. I've never seen one for sale...and the 13-1/2" is not valued in the globe guide....known only in pictures. They mention a mobil shield on the bottom in the description in there, I believe it is a decal....hopefully globe collectors can comment their opinion,as I am curious on value also.

Jim Thanks for the correction...I have a gap in my Wadhams map collection. (and knowledge, too, evidently.)

And here's how you probably don't want to wash your globe.
