I just purchased a old CONOCO sign that had been buried for Approx. 50 years. It was found with a medal detector at a old bulk plant.
The sign has great color red, green and white.
The frame with hooks on the top Is rusted bad. The rust looks to be one and a half times thicker than It should Be.
Should I try to take the sign out of the frame and have It sand blasted? Or wire wheel It,or use a disc grinder?
I'm not real handy, so any comments will help.
Thanks, Butch

I would do my best to not damage the sign when trying to remove the rust from the frame. I would rec if possible to take the sign out of the frame and clean it up. The frame can always be repaired, but the sign cannot.
