Hello, Came across this forum today on the web. I recently purchased a Amoco brand National A38 gas pump. It has all of the original Amoco glass and a reproduction top The inside is all original and in good shape. There are some large dents on the back and one side. I paid $650.00 and it will cost $270.00 to have it blasted.

How rare is this pump? I don't see any Amoco pumps on the internet. How much can I put into restoring it before I am upside down. I don't plan on selling it. Just want to keep it in my garage for atmosphere. I have two 1959 Buick Electra 225's. One 4DR HT and a Convertible that I am restoring now.

I will post a picture as soon as I find out how to do it.

George

650 is good price on that pump but 270 to have it blasted is WAY to high. You should get it blasted for under 100.

Being as Amoco was primarily a Eastern Brand , what do you expect ? They wern't like Mobil or Texaco as they had a larger audience . Ed Shaver

Hi George,
Its not a rare pump, and if you are doing all the work except blasting, you will not be upside down on it. $270 is high though. Make sure whoever blasts it knows what they are doing as the wrong media and too much time on one spot will warp the skins.
It will look cool with your cars. Welcome to the site!
John
