I have this double pump that I can't find in Jack's book. One is similiar on page 256 Southwest 1948 pump but not exact. Tag says Erie 229-22 R and got a manual from Jack with this number. Problem is that it is not this pump, and do not know why this tag is on there. Original tag. I know one was on here and ebay a while back. Need front and side pictures of a double one to finish this.

In 1948 Gulf probably had five different pump companies making pumps for them. It appears that Gulf designed the pumps, submitted the designs to the companies and asked, how much.

No one of us has ever taken the time to see how many of the parts made by these companies were interchangable. If they were interchangable, and if a car happen to run into your pump, and if the repair man knew that parts from another company's pump would interchange, his job was to get the pump back in running order, not how it looked, so maybe, well you know what I am getting at.

Look through my book for Gulf pumps made by other companies at that time, let me know, and I'll send you a copy. No charge.

That pump looks more like it, but as Jack said there is a slight difference in some of them. There is a small little pin like thing that comes out inbetween the two pumps for the reset, need a closer look at that or be able to get two. They must have a flat side in one of the round inside walls like a regular crank back lever. Thanks for the picture.

The pump in the picture that is on Craig's list looks close, without the big flat trim though. Maybe mine was just missing it like you said, it does make sense that someone just interchanged the parts. That little handle in the center is a key component though along with how the chrome strip went. Mine does have the stainless on the side, but not in the front as some.

Yes it is very similar to mine, and you are right about my sight glass. Great pictures by the way and the pump looks great also. The trim hole down there would also be like where my hole would be at.

Yes Gulfiend that chrome or stainless in the center is how mine was, now if I can just find the reset knobs.

Craig i have brought this up in the past as well, the only thing that i could come up with is that these "GOC" pumps were very similar in many ways from the "Wayne #1,Erie 129,S.W GOC" , I recently purchased a g.o.c that had a e129 id tag & was a sw pump w/smooth stainless top & not what i know a e129 to be w/ cast base "wings around sight glass" & decorative stepped up stainless top.

Anyways........ it is what it is!

I have a perfect set of twin doors & sides & tops faces ect......for your pump,i had to reflect on a old pic & mine do have the stainless strips. Shoot me over an email when you have a moment! ~Chris

The strips that are on the edge of the pump to keep the hoses from scraping the paint are the ones I need. I am checking today to see if I have all the stainless for the center. I had it polished about 5 years ago and the stuff is with others. Thought that I had kept it separate. Still need the two crank backs that would go on each side though, and maybe a picture of the nozzle holders that go inside the pump. This thing had two different ones. I believe it is like Jack said, someone may have changed parts in this.
