In my collection of stuff I have several rusty quart cans. My question is what do most guys use to get rid of the rust while keeping what little of the can graphics are left? Thanks.

Not just lemon juice, but real lemon juice, in the green plastic bottles at Costco, I have turned the can up-side down with the holes on the bottom and placed a wieght on it to keep it under, check it at 12 hours with a small peice of green scratch pad , go over it lightly, if not good enough go another 8 hours and check it agin. always works for me. good luck. when your finished use a funnel and pour it back in the bottle,

You lemon juice guys are wimps. Lemon juice is slow and messy. Go to your local hardware store and look for an item called woodbleach, which is oxalic acid. This is the best thing ever fo removing lots of rust in a fairly short amount of time.
Also Naval Jelly is good for lightly rusted cans.

Yes, lemon juice is abit slow. But it is better tobe slow and save the graphics, that to have NOTHING left on the can.
1 Westcoast is worth the wait.

I've never had a problem with paint being removed using these products.
