Do the gallon markers on a five gallon Mae West start at 5 on the bottom and the 1 at the top? Or is it the other way around? Thanks in advance.

In some parts of the country it was against the law to keep the cylinder full when the temperature reached a set degree, @ that temp. the gasoline would expand & customer would not be getting a correct measurement.

Thats interesting. I never thought of that. I think I will just run it through the stops and put the one at the lowest level and go up from there. Would that be correct?

In my collection of Visible Indicators I have matched pairs, 0-10 & 10-0. Most are 0 @ Top, but some have the 0 @ Bottom.
