Well a nicely made part of a pedal car, or a display for a tank maker like Butler or McDonald. i think the fill holes would be a gave away, if they cast I would lean to a scale from a tank builder. If they are press steel then I would lean to a good sheet metal fabricator making something for his or her kid.

Whoever made it, it looks pretty good!
Heres a picture of the complete unit on the back of an old truck!
Quite a bit bigger but I suppose they were made in 2-3-or 4 compartments!

I've seen a scale model of tanks in some of the old Morrison Bros. photos I have. It wouldn't be odd at all for the tank if it was a model to be seperate from the truck. Most of the tank companies sold the tank and sent it to a local dealer to have installed.

I have invoices for all of the trucks that the Iowa Oil Company used from the 20's and 30's. Everyone has a seperate Morrison Bros. invoice attached to the original truck paperwork. The would modify the mountings, etc depending if it was a Mack, IH, Graham, Dodge, etc.

McDonald didn't make tanks as all, they bought them from Morrison down the street in Dubuque.

If you get it and it's marked Morrison, let me know.

Could be wrong but it does look like a small scale down salesman sample. Rear cabinet looks just like what was on the old delivery tankers and they would have a grease gun with fittings for attaching to tanks or drums.Oldgoaly Right about the fill holes on top .
