I recently picked up a Bowser 575. I'm not crazy about the way the doors are hinged. The doors are hard to open due to the two points of movement on the hinge. The doors tend to bind up and/or rub the base and do not line up evenly with the side panels everytime it's opened or closed. I know this will be an issue once the pump is restored and painted.

Has anyone replaced the original hinges with another type hinge to make a more positive opening and closing of the doors? Lets hear your suggestions!

I recently bought and resold a Bowser with those kind of hinges and they look tough to get aligned correct! One of the doors closed nicely and the other was off to one side a little? I was just going to compare side to side and adjust however I could but I sold the pump. I would think that installing a different hinge would require a lot of work. The hinges that come with them, worked at one time, so they should be able to work again.
Good luck!

Bowsers have weak hinges. Every one that I've restored were major jobs to fit correctly. I would never consider replacing these hinges, with something different, as it is not at all easy and the pumps aren't worth it.....in my opinion. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Thanks for the info. I will try to align them better and see if that helps. I like the look of the pump and hope I can get it worked out. Thanks for the replies.
