I just picked up this rather large Wayne lubester. The pump is a Model 82 with serial number 172783. It has a very large lid and opening. I'm guessing it was for Kerosene? Any info on the this lubester would be great! I'm trying to decide if I should restore it as is or use it to build some sort of fantasy Lubester.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. Cut it in half and make to bookshelf type lubesters out of it. I have an extra pump that I can use for it.

I see these large lubesters sell at swap meets for $50-100, depending on the condition. Personally, I like the large ones if the pump is free and not siezed. However, I have seen cool display cabinets made out of the large units. Have fun!

The vanity idea is interesting too........

Put a door in it and mount a keg in it and have beer dispense out the top. Use quart motor oil bottles as glasses!

Thanks Dick. I figured it had to be a thinner viscosity oil product since it had a Gas Boy filter on the bottom of the pipe,

LARGE openings generally denote Kerosene dispensers. Smaller openings were generally used as oil dispensers.
Remember, Mom-n-Pop places sold a tone of kerosene back in the day. You had kerosene stoves, lights, etc.
Later . . .
