I'm not a Sinclair expert but I would steer clear Lee.
Especially where they are coming from.

These are really hard to tell apart but I am leaning towards the first on being legit as it is marked SPS-61. Not to say that can't marked on a repo but I have not seen that on one yet. The second one I would stay away from just because of the seller.

Mine has that sps-61 on the back too
if it didnt, I would have no clue

They repos are exact copies of that sign
You just have to trust the origin to the seller
Similar to the 50's Standard red crown pump plates

Here is a responce I got from the one that Keith talked about that was stamped.

I worked at an Oil company right after I got out of high school. (1996) These signs were in a box that wasn't opened and almost got thrown in the trash.
There was about 15 of them in the box. The company I worked for distributed Sinclair products and Amoco oil.
So can I prove that they are originals not really. But if you watch EBay you will see many without the stamping of the date in the porcelain.
Some stampings are "60". Mine are all "61".
Anyway that's all I can tell you about the signs.
Thanks,
Jberry1977

I think I would be inclined to believe him. The stamp itself looks good. I have one that is original but has no stamp on the backside. I took it off the pump myself.

Here is a picture of a repro on the left and a real one on the right. It seems this repro one uses a slightly darker green, the shape of the "r" is probably the most noticeable difference, and the shelving on the original is heavier than the repop. Hope this helps some.

NOS sign without grommets??? SPS-61 looks like a homemade ink stamp job.

These signs never had grommets. Only the red diesel ones had grommets. SPS-61 looks good to me and that is how they looked. I would buy that sign.

Thanks for all the help guy's. With them side by side I see what you mean in the color, but if they were apart I'm not sure I could tell the difference.

I blew up the picture that Archer2 posted and it looks like on the real sign, the front foot does 'not' have a cleft and in the repop it does. Can anyone blow it up better to see or have another origional to look at?

The two images are identical to my untrained eyes. Here are some more pictures:
