I will get the check in going for today. I am working again, just a couple more days and I will be "a little" caught up. Maybe I can take a day or two off later this week.
Have a good day everybody!

Hi Ryan, all.... Nice sunny morning in Michigan...not gonna be too warm, but a beautiful day so far! Did my antiquing rounds yesterday so nothing too exciting in the plans today. I think I'll probably do some laundry and cleaning of the apartment. I would really like to be dirt-biking but my buddy is up North riding this weekend so that isn't going to happen today. Have a good day all, Darin

Morning all, another great day here,as we have been getting rain at night with sunny days, perfect! The wedding was a success last night as no body got cold feet. Open bar with free drinks was a big hit and the brides father wore a scottish skirt, now that was different. Lazy raceday tube time for me today. HAGD-ALL!

Brad Keslowski just won Talledega. Not my favorite driver but Matt Kenseth goofed up and Keslowski was able to get by with Kyle Busch's help. I still don't enjoy the restrictor plate races as much. Too much follow the leader type stuff.

Hi everyone, Planted a southern magnolia tree at 8 am to beat the 90 degree heat this afternoon. Went to church, then out to lunch at KFC with friends. KFC was busier than I have ever seen. Isn't the economy supposed to be bad? Tomorrow we pick up the refrigerator that we bought for Maureen's old job. They are downsizing and will have no room for it. Her boss had said "That old thing won't last long." Ten years later the 'fridge still works but the employer is slowly going down the tubes. Have a great week out there in Oldgasland!

Jim,
Did your tree come with a guarentee?
What's the scientific name of your Magnolia? Southern Magnolia (-Magnolia grandiflora-) is generally hardy to zone 7 and I think you are 6. There may be some cultivars of evergreen magnolias that look a little like the true Southern Magnolia, that are rated zone 6, that perhaps the nursery has stuck on that common name. The only way to know for sure is to get the scientific name.
We are in 7 but can have trouble with winter dessication damage to the leaves overwinter, while they do better in D.C. because of the heat island of the city. And we live south of D.C.
If it is -Magnolia grandiflora- hopefully with your lake the temperatures will be closer to zone 7. Good luck.
It is a beautiful tree...

Same here with planting. Started @ 7AM after picking up a bunch of Freebies from another neighborhood dug up there yesterday. Was done by 10AM, had breakfast and started mapping out where I'll be taking up lawn/grass to put down used pavers that I bought 4 years ago. Watched a few online videos to prep the ground and will use ground fabric to help keep down the weeds. Been taking up 5" thick pieces of sod, scratching off most of the dirt and laying the grass down in a low bare area, then dumping the dirt around the foundation of the house. Fun, fun, fun!
