I wanted to show off a few pictures of my 1974 YZ125. I bought it out of New Hampshire last year. The before picture is from the Craigslist ad when it was for sale. I did all the work minus lacing the wheels and boring the cylinder. That is Gary Jones in the picture with me. I met him last weekend at a big vintage race in New York. He was the 250cc national motocross champion from 1972-1974. He worked closely with Yamaha to develop the YZ series bikes that debuted in 1974.

What a great weekend, and that bike looks great, YZ's are the boss!!!
I love those bikes, I started racing in 1973 and my first race bike was a YZ.
I have to admit though, Ricky Carmichael got me ridding the CRF 450's at the end.LOL
Again that's one nice YZ, nice job.

Excellent. It would be neat to see how good the top riders of today would be on the older bikes.

Thanks for posting the pics, nice machine. I saw one like this at a garage sale last week for $200. I rode a little YZ60 last weekend and wow, what a little ripper. I think they only made them a very short time. I told my buddy after taking a couple laps I bet that machine scared the heck out of little kids back then! A lot of power for a small bike, lol!
I like that you have the old gear too...I just bought a new pair of Fox boots, but my 20+ year old AXO's are my favorites. Broken in nice like an old pair of slippers!
