Ok, I need some advice. On June 25, I posted several Fry parts on Oldgas for sale. That night, a friend of a member inquired about some of the parts. He committed to buying the base and the 2 sides of the pump. After repeated phone calls over the next 2 days, I finally get to talk to him and and give him my address to mail the check. He said he would mail a check that day (last Thursday). Fast forward until today, still no check. I agreed via a verbal handshake that the parts were his. How long do I wait to get paid before relisting. Phone calls go to voice mail. I'm like to give people the benefit of the doubt but don't want to be taken advantage of either.

No reply and no response? Sounds like buyers remorse and he just doesn't want to tell you in person he changed his mind. Offer them back up for sale and let the member know how it all went down.

Jamie,
Forget the guy and put him on your "do not deal with this bum" list. Offer it to the next in line. Money talks and BS walks...crude, but accurate.
Your friend,
Dave

I don't know any of the particulars with this transactions....

I do know, that some here like me have fairly complicated medical problems. At times these problems raise their terrible heads without advance warning and I have to be admitted to the Hospital... Now of course, I don't know what the circumstances are with the party who was/has sent the check...

I do know that at times mail gets "lost/misplaced/displaced" by the USPS or weather slows the movement of mail.. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen... Especially when there has been a major storm....

As I said, I don't know any of the particulars... and guess what..... neither do any of you.... So why not cool your jets?

Jamie, you are a stand up guy! How would you feel if you do re-list the items and then the check does arrive in a few days and the postmark shows that the "buyer" did mail it when they said they would?....

I do not plan to relist until Tuesday evening at the earliest. That gives an extra day for the Holiday yesterday. If I hear from him, I'll tell him that he has x number of days to get me a check or I'll relist. Fortunately the parts are not eating and are in no danger of dying.

Bob that's still no excuse for ignoring email/phone calls, IF the check was sent in a timely matter.

When cans are sent to me for repair, I like to be informed w/ a list & they were sent w/ a tracking #, so I know when to expect them OR start asking questions.
Some what recently I received a bunch of cans, count number was 1 short of what was supposed to be in box. After cans were returned, I was asked why 1 can wasn't returned? I can't return what wasn't sent! Approx. 2 weeks later customer found the missing can Under his shipping/boxing bench.

Bob, with all due respect, all of the scenarios you listed could be explained and dealt with if the buyer would simply answer the phone calls or e-mails from the seller.
If the planets align ppoorly for the buyer and he ends up in the hospital or something, I'm sure his friend on here or at his house could explain it to Jamie. If things are very bad, missing out on the parts are probably the least of his worries.
Communication is the key and with cell phones, vm, text, e-mails and im's, it's very easy.

I think most human beings want to be communicated to in any kind of relationship. I want information upon which to fairly base my actions-you don't have to tell me what I want to hear, just tell me what "is" and I can go from there.

As I said, I know none of the particulars.

As I also said, Neither do you folks... As to cell phone coverage... I can go 3 miles from my home here on the I-5 corridor and not have any cell phone coverage.... When I send a check, I don't sit by the phone wondering if my check made it to the addressee in a timely manner... I go out and try to enjoy life as much as possible...

Like I said, maybe the person is honest and sent the check when they said they would... Maybe the person is a "deadbeat" and never sent a check... or maybe they are somewhere in between?..

I DON'T KNOW and neither does anyone else....

We, me included, have sure beat this subject into the ground!....

Hey guys, I didn't mean to stir up a Hornets nest. I'm not gonna go hungry by waiting until Tuesday to relist. That gives the buyer more than enough time to respond. I have no problem if someone has buyers remorse but as many have said, Communication is the Key.

HEY, WE have Disagreements on DIP STICKS, How a pump Should be painted, Size of Globes on different pumps, Riding 4 wheelers on County Roads, Condemning Members W/O listening to their Side of what/why happened.

Some have Ethics & Some Never have [or don't want to be reminded that they bragged of ....] & to some the TRUTH HURTS!

Just to be clear, this transaction is not with a member of Oldgas. No reflection whatsoever on anyone here.
