A really poor attempt. Looks like die cut vinyl letters (modern fonts) and graphics on plexi-glass.

Lot of money for it. The back of the clock shows its original gold hammertone finish.

Like the seller, I have two of these clocks. One advertised washing machines and the other I don't know. They were used to advertise many things. They are a great clock to custom make an ad panel for. Not a bad looking fantasy layout but you are correct in the fact the fonts are not spot on and look computer generated. The only colors of the clocks I have seen are "hammered" finish gold or blue. The ones I have are date stamped on the inside 1952. Bottom line... Fantasy

What a dirty shame....as the final eBay bidder just spent $1,225 for this item. Real value in my opinion: $200 to $300 for the original clock and frame, plus $0 for the phoney, modern Mobil graphics panel that has been added.

Some insight into this eBay seller's view of what is "authentic" can be gained by noting the old light fixture glass covers he has placed on his restored Mobil gas pumps in place of actual gas globes. John
