Hello All. This is my Wayne Conoco pump. Has any one seen one like this before? I cant find any on line like it. I need one replacemnt glass globe as the back is cracked, any help in finding a original would be great. All the other glass is perfect! as the front globe glass. Was this the correct color or did they have a green center? I am considering converting this into a Phillips 66 pump. Would this be a bad idea? The pump has no rust in it and has been in the garage since 1954 so it it super solid I am considering restoring it but want to use original Phillips 66 glass/globe/signs if possiable. Any advise from the forum would be great. This is my first pump. Got it from a friend who's father had it since 1954 when he put it into his old shop locally.

Id leave that one alone.. a survivor for sure.. you can make any pump mint but you can't make a pump look like that again..its only original once. Keep that one as is and find a rust brown one and sandblast and restore it

I would suggest leaving that one as is....That's a great original survivor pump for sure and it has a great look about it. You might want to trade someone pumps that would leave this one as is and you could restore the trade. I'm all for restoration but sometimes a pump should be best left as is, which in my opinion is the case for this one!

I agree with these guys. It is your pump to do as you wish, but that is good patina. Clean it, light it up and enjoy.

Its a Wayne 70 done up in Conoco badging. These are fairly common pumps and it should be easy to find another one that needs restoration. This is a survivor and looks great as is! I'm with the other guys, leave it alone and buy a poor one for the resto! Very nice buy!

I'm with the other guys who are saying to leave it as it is.I'll give you a couple of things to consider in making your decision.

You mentioned possibly changing it to a Phillips pump using all original ad glass and signs.I think it will take you a long time to find a complete, matching quality set of Phillips ad glass. Also,to my knowledge,Phillips never made a porcelin pump plate, they used decals.Just things to think about.

Nice looking Conoco pump. You will be able to find another lens for your globe easy. They are common,as they were used from the early 1930's up to 1948. I too would leave it just like that. That gives you and excuse to buy another one grin

Nice survivor, I agree, leave as it.

On another note, I thought I learned on Oldgas not long ago that that plate was only for oil can racks and not a pump plate?
Is this correct? Or does this pump fly in the face of that thinking?

That is the same type of Conoco PPP that I had, last year, and it's different from the oil can rack PRP because it has squared corners instead of rounded.
I did my research, back then, and HB had posted a pic, a couple of years back, of a original untouched pump with the same PPP still on it. Squared and not rounded corners and here is another.
Good luck on finding your globe lens! I'm sure one will turn up soon for you.

Dave,
By rounded corners, are you talking about these 4 corners?
And your saying these corners on this rack are rounder than what's on that pump?
