Hi all, new guy here. I just have a question that I hope someone can answer. I recently saw a color photo from the 50's of Central Ave in Albuquerque. On one of the street corners was a Chevron gas station. The top of the sign where the "Chevron" logo was, is red, not the blue color I'm used to seeing. I first thought it might signify a company-owned station but I think those were all branded "Standard". Why the red color? My father worked as a repairman for Standard Oil of Texas, and later, SOCal, from '57 to the early '80s, but he's gone and I cant ask him. Maybe this was something Standard Oil of Texas did. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
