This site is great, my first question was answered immediatedly, another question, top of pump is plain with no provision to take a globe, can I just buy the adaptor for the top and add a globe???? Also after starting to tear the pummp down, discovered Shell "yellow" under the "Mobil" red, sure would like to see a picture of one restored as a Shell pump. The pump has all parts intact except the hose and nozzle, also need to know what nozzle would be correct for this pump. Don

Is it a wide body or narrow body version? There were different globe receivers.

The wide body would accept the more ornate version of the globe receivers and you would need to cut a hole in the top center of the pump. The hole is fairly large, something like 5 inches diameter.

Don, There is a great post "Pump Of The Month" 3/20/2004 by Neil Dunn. Several pages of nothing but Wayne 60. It is really something to see. Larry

Don:

To answer your question - yes, you can add a globe to your pump. Just figure out whether it's a wide or a narrow pump and buy the correct globe holder.

Once you have the holder in-hand, center it on the upper 'skins' of the pump and mark where to drill the hole. Use a hole-saw and go for it. Work slowly so you don't bend the sheet metal when you push on it.

You only really need a hole big enough for the socket to pass thru dispite what the 'factory' did originally. It's much easier to drill a smaller hole than it is to drill a 5-incher due the the curvature of the top of the pump.

You will have to modify the light manifold to add the necessary piping and socket for the bulb - but most manifolds are already set up for that, so it's usually not a big deal. You should rewire the pump anyway so just do it all at the same time.

Later . . .

Jim
