I just finished restoring a Bennett 646 and the Guide to Gas Pump Restoration book says to place the pump plate 6 inches below the beltline.

Where is the beltline????????????????

I do not remember exact measurements or years but prewar they were on the doors and postwar they were on the sides. They had two different hights on the sides. The belt line is useally the window or mid section on a two tear pump. I would put them on the sides on a 646.

Oh, sorry I was not paying attention. I thought he was asking about lead signs. I think I slept in too late.

Yes, pump plate and not lead plate. The lead plate is on the side using the existing holes....

On the Bennett 646, the "Belt Line would have been at the very middle of the pump. As Dick said , a Contains Lead plate would have been displayed on the Crank side about eight-to twelve inches above the base . I hope this is of help ..........

Some cities or states required the lead plates to be put on the doors.
