Mac....you're lucky that you paid what you did for this globe. I am 98% sure that this is the same globe that was floating around western Illinois a few years ago and was being pawned off as an original. I have a friend that paid 800 bucks for this globe before he realized he had been had. I am SURE this is the same globe. He unloaded it at a loss out of pure embarrassment and was he ever MAD..and he has been around enough to know better but he got caught up in the excitement. The story at the time was that they had made a run of these globes, unmarked, in England and they found their way into the U.S. I'm sure plenty of collectors got bit on this one.....

I probably would have paid the $450 if I wouldn't have asked the question here on Oldgas. The concensus seemed to be that it was a repro, so I told the guy that I just couldn't give him more than $250. I'm still glad to have it and very very glad I paid the price of a repro.
