Okay, I'll start. Here are two of my favorite's. They are not beauties to some people but I absolutely love them. And for some crazy reason thier my wifes favorites of all my stuff. They have some history but the price is in line. Both are very thick!! Just got the one on the left. Can't wait to do a little acid job on them this spring and polish them up.
Anyone have any idea what kind of pump they may have been on?

It takes off a lot of the old grime and rust runs. I'm looking forward to trying it on some pieces in the spring.

steve, those are lubester signs Lubester signs?? Really?? Any chance anyone has an old pic with one in action? I had to come back and edit this. I've had the one sign for like 5 months and it just hit me, it say "motor oil" right on the darn thing. Who the hell would put a motor oil sign on a pump!! Wake up and smell the coffee Steve!!

I found this showing what it as least close to my signs on a lubester. Now I get it.
Note: Look at the opposite color combo on the large sign. Anyone ever see one like this??? I imagine that background must be blue. That sign would be VERY cool to have!!

Found this a few years back and have yet to see another one. It explains that the differences between 200 - 260 grades is the amount of "Octane Additive". Now all I need is a matching pump!

thanks SC62, Don't think it's a very common sign so I thought I would share it. It might truely be "rare" lol (as soon as I say that a dozen more will show up)lol It is double sided painted on a light metal. 9/10 condition. 100% sure it's original. Sorry photo isn't clearer. idk what the age would be pre-WW2 ?

Todd, Just a little info I dug up. http://hesreport.sunocoinc.com/_filelib/...ar_brochure.pdfCheck out the above link, if you read on the left side of page 1 (Diamond in the rough) and check out the pictures on the right, apparently the arrow and the Sunoco name were added in 1920. So I would think your sign must date some time after that. Also, on page 2 of the same link is a timeline that states that in 1927 the "Blue Sunoco" name/gasoline was introduced. Now I'm not sure, but I do not believe in my short time in the hobby I have seen the "Sun Oils" & the "Blue Sunoco" used together. If this in any way indicates to us when they stopped using the "Sun Oils" in the diamond logo, then we could possibly say your sign dates between 1920 & 1927. But I do not know when exactly the "Sun Oils" in the diamond logo was last used. Just a little info. Not sure if it's the whole story. I would love to hear anything anyone can add. BTW all, check out that pump on page 2. Is that some early blend pump or something? Steve Edit: After thinking on this a little again this morning, it's likely i'm off on the 1927 part. From what we see in some oil cans, it's somewhat obvious that the "Sun Oils" in the diamond logo is used well into the 30's at least.

Wow, those globes are pretty awesome!! Where did you find those? Kind of a cool story on two of those. They were in an auction maybe 4 or 5 years ago and I couldn't afford them then and figured I would never see them again. Then in 2011 at the Columbus show they were in the Matthews Auction and I decided to step up to the plate, figured what would be the chances of seeing the pair a 3rd time. The third globe I bought from a fellow oldgasser that took pity on me. Really enjoying this thread, glad Steve suggested it.

Steve, I think you're really close on dating Todd's sign. I think it's between 1920 - 1925. Once Blue Sunoco was introduced in 1927, Sun Oils was getting phased out. I looked for some cans or other proof Sun Oils was used well into the 1930's and didn't find any right off, but I am at work today and really should be working. Did find this link: http://www.suncor.com/en/about/749.aspxAlso found this ad from 1921 that mentions 'Eliminates Carbon'

Dan, I went to check my books where I thought I remembered seeing "sun oils" on some cans that were stated to be 30's. I was wrong. The cans had the yellow diamond but it said Sunoco, not Sun oils. So this is interesting and I would say you are correct in that somewhere late 20's early 30's at best there was no more Sun oils in the logo's. It will be fun if we can pin point it any more than this.

Here is my Porcelain credit card table ,LOGO IS IN THE PORCELAIN NOT A DECAL! ...it's not a credit card table - it went in the ladies' room; there was a matching smaller bench seat, that fit under the table...there was a set on eBay a year or so ago...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Hello. I have these White W/Blue lettering ad glass. Steve, I believe you said these did exist.. do you have any history or info on these or anyone else? We have the second intact just painted over. I would think it's a generic BUT the pump only had about 9 years of public use before it was bought and kept UNCHANGED in the family.. All help is appreciated. Rob and LouAnn

Steve, I thought for sure we would see the destiny lens here. Nice to see old threads have legs.

Holy Old threads Batman!!! Wow! 2012! That was the year I discovered the hobby and this was one of my very early/first threads. So cool to see it still breathing. As my Sunoco collecting has advances quite a bit since then, I'll have to do some posting in this again some day.

Just a few smalls for me and a rack of Canadian quarts. The wood Ladies' key holder is printed on all four sides. It would be great to find the matching Mens'. Cheers, Don.

A couple of pumps and the plastic header that would have mounted on the Wayne 511 that had a frame (which I have) to promote lube and oil change. Probably from the 60's, my initial thought was well that's not really that old and then I did the math. Yikes!

I had a Marathon Station in Fremont. Just had tires put on my daily driver at that brick building beside your gpa's station.

Wow... some great pics, guys. I am just starting out. Thanks for the replies to my grandfather's Sunoco. OhioOil..... Last I remember that building was a Uniroyal Nu-tire. I haven't been by there in a while. I have many great memories at that station though.
