just curious on what you all do with rusty cans to clean them up??My buddy told me to soak them in motor oil! I have done this it gives them a little more of a shine.

If they are rusty, not much you can do to change rust.

DONT SOAK THEM!!!
The lithograph will come off, been there done that.
Use rubbing compound on the graphics and aluminum foil on the tops and bottoms to remove the big stuff.

Canman, This is a picture of a can which I soaked the top in a product called, Evap-O-Rust. You can see by the handle, which was not soaked, that it did quite a good job. The entire top used to look like the handle. I did not try this on any part of the graphic. I plan to test it on an old can that I use for such test's. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

mcguffeyd1, when you say dont soak them, what did you try that took the graphic off?

Start w/ WORST can[s] 1st;
CAREFULLY remove Grease/Oil residue.
To remove RUST,
Soak in Diluted Citric Acid [bought in powdered form at Drug Stores], Rinse & Dry Thoroughly.
