I have activated the direct image upload "File Manager" feature to all forums. Try out the new system on the "Testing Area" forum. You may still use ImageShack or Photobucket and the [img] tags to display pictures in all forums.
Please upload only petroliana images, including gas station, auto service, tire, battery, spark plug and related memorabilia along with auto dealer signs.
Images need to be sized to 640 x 480 or smaller and 150k in memory size or smaller. We recommend using the software that came with your digital camera to resize. A good practice is to reset the resolution on your camera temporarily to 640 x 480 to save time to upload. Or use - Online free image resizing instructions: http://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=199328
Instructions: * Login to Shop Talk * Click on "New Topic" or "New Reply" (Full Reply Screen) * Then click on "File Manager" * Click on "Browse" and select your image. Images should be 640 x 480 or less and 150k or less. * Add text in caption box * Click the "Add File" button * Click the "Done Adding Files" button. * Fill out the Subject and Post message box (no image code is needed) Preview button will not show image * Click "Submit"
Here is Oilcanman87's video tutorial on uploading pictures using our Resize Tool. First half is for iPhone and iPad and the second half is for PC computers.
Thanks, Oilcanman87 ! Try it!

This is a fabulous tool and SOOOO easy to use. It appears that you can do multiple pictures as well. That will make it so much easier for guys to share show pictures

Ummm-I actually load pic's on here that are 150 kb. And to avoid confustion no KB limit if it's a link to another websire 'cause you just go to the website. I'm guessing the linking DB is talkin' 'bout is to pictures you have re-sized on photo making sites?
And I haven't even had my orange juice this morning!
Just saw Jim's post below and I say again, if I had had that orange juice I would have been awake enough read the complete date on DB's post, rather then stopping at Dec 7.
My bad!

Dick's information was accurate when it was posted. Since then, the allowance has been increased, so the 150k size images are now displayed, not just linked. 99% of images resized to 640 x 480 will be less than 150k as long as they are saved at the most common 80% compression setting.
The 150k limit is only for "File Manager" direct uploads to Shop Talk. Images hosted elsewhere (ImageShack, PhotoBucket, etc.) are not included in that limit. All images are displayed on the forum at a maximum pixel size of 640 pixels, such as 640 pixels wide x 480 pixels high no matter what their actual pixel dimensions really are.
All File Manager images are available from past years as long as the topic is available. Only a few topics have been removed because of rules violations. (We reserve the option that some older non-relevant topics may be removed in the future) Old images on third party image hosts are often deleted from the server because of low usage or time limits, especially on Photobucket. There are lots of useful images missing on older topics that were originally hosted on a third party image hosting sites.
