So I just thought I'd share a little something with you all, I LOVE this idea and I'm sure some of you will too.
So my dad passed away in September and we knew we were having him cremated and our friend had a great idea. We had his remains placed and sealed in one of his larger oil cans! It was a perfect tribute to someone who worked in and collected oil memorabilia for 25+ years. Just something to consider... hope you all have a great day.

GREAT Idea, just hope you marked the contents in a Permanent Way on one of the lids.

haha- 5 qt, he was pretty solid! We put the can in my mom's room on her mantle, and the lid was engraved with his name and his birth/death dates.

great idea.!!!when my dad passed,we put him in a wood vase that he made,since he was a woodworker,,worked out perfect...if he would of been a collector in gas and oil ,I would of done like you did...txsAlan

Alyssa, you prompt us to think about end of life issues that are more comfortably avoided. All collectors need to think about what kind of a situation they leave behind for their loved ones. Our best wishes on selling off your Dad's collection. Your idea here is a great way for his interests to live on in family memories.

For the morbidly curious: Having lost my Mother 2 years ago I can tell you that the ashes from a human body are around 3qts by volume.

John Some guys will do just about anything to Visit the West Coast in Winter!  $35 for the lid on your 5qt can or $50 if I supply a New 5qt can + return postage.
