I have this tall 39 that we got in an auction but was missing parts. The doors were gone and the mech that closes them was not with it also. I do have a cast iron base one that I just got and was wondering if I could just switch bases or if there was a problem. I know the crank handle assembly is different now that I sold my extra parts for that.

Bases are fully interchangeable. Earlier pumps had the cast iron base and later they were made out of the stamped steel. Closure mechanisms were the same but the brackets on the base were sometimes a little different.
