I think it could be one end of an airport gas sign. Have seen one like that on a hanger up over the sliding door with SHELL on one end,AIRCRAFT in the middle, and GASOLINE on the other end. The bottoms of both clams were cut off like that and the right hand clam had GASOLINE whe the word Shell is. Maybe???????????? Blair Underwood

I had kind of thought it was maybe a top half of a bigger sign. It has some holes in the rusty spots, and is too big for me to sneak home lol. Thanks for information everyone.

Hey guys, this is 1/2 of a shell sign. There were both gasoline and oil lower halfs to this. Years ago a buddy of mine found a gent in Missouri that was living in a building that he had covered the outside of with these signs. He had turned them over and painted them with that wonderful asphalt based silver paint. We got the signs and yes there are quite a few that didn't match perfectly. We both kept a paor, oil and gasoline and sold the rest off over the years. We probably started with over 30 complete signs.

Those signs are circa late 1920s as well...many are dated.
