I was asked to look/buy a collection of oil cans this week and ran across a Castrol can that looked like an early one.

Now i am not a Castrol collector and dont have a clue about the Castrol cans.

This one was a round quart can and looked like an early logo. The can was NOS and in excellent shape.

The logo kinda looked like this can but it was a US 1 quart can. I dont remember it saying Wakefield but had the same type of font on the Castrol name.

Does anyone have photos of a can like this or know about it? Should have snap a photo but i cant right now.

I can't find a photo on google and haven't seen one in the older post.

Any help is appreciated

Dan

Dan, here's a picture of the Castrol logotypes found on their web site. I have also pictures (somewhere) of an aniversary thermometer released by Castrol, showing the same logos and years. There is also yet another newer logo since 2001 - not very interesting for your purposes ;-)
Also, you need to check this link - Alan Chandler in GB has a lot of Castrol cans - and A LOT OF other stuff - make it an evening :-D

Dan, as far I am aware of in Canada the earliest round sealed quarts were the solid green cans with white outline red script lettering. The three quarts in the top row in the rack. These came out in 1933 and were used through the thirties. I would think it should be the same for the US tins. I hope this helps. Cheers, Don.
