Oops! I forgot about the "dies" ...

In fact that is how they made the Steel toys back in 20's: using dies!

But then again, this particular sign maker could not have access to "dies" since they can be costly!

At any rate, a beautiful sign brought good money!

...of course I agree the graphics are great - but whether or not this sign was cut from another? surely that's important...especially when we're talking about people spending over three thousand dollars...

...does anyone know for sure?


Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Doesnt look like there are mounting holez......guess they will glue it to wall

The sign is original. They were made for motor oil and gasoline. Here is the one I bought from Kyle Moore at Hershey back in 1992. Two signs went back to back on a pole and pedestal. If you look closely you can see the three mounting holes running vertically down the center.

I looked @ the irregular border and irregular spacing of the 3 holes and emailed him i thought it was a repop but he was convinced it was real so.... after seeing this other one i think he was right!

I didn't know for sure but I was pretty sure it was real. I know I was going to bid about a thousand on it. As far as the kids thing other than Jack Sims and a couple others you are all kids to me. Mitch
